How sad I have been to receive your gmail telling me of Betty’s sudden death on 17th May. You, Richard, Matthew and Peter have been in my thoughts and prayers and I have lit a candle for Betty in the church I now attend St. James the Deacon in Woodthorpe. I recall those good days with you and Betty and the “boys” at Rufforth and have told Martin Otter, the current Vicar at Rufforth of dear Betty’s “promotion to glory” You will see from the enclosed that Betty is now on our daily prayer list of those recently departed. Although I am about to go on holiday to Germany and Austria, I will remember Betty and yourselves on the 19th when in Alpbach in the Tyrol – I’ll light a candle in the lovely village church which is opposite the hotel I will be staying in.
